Aurora 25 Years of Antarctic Exploration
|Aurora Expeditions celebrates 25 years since its first expedition to Antarctica.
To mark this milestone event, the company launched a special anniversary expedition. Paying homage to Aurora's founders Greg and Margaret Mortimer, the expedition to Antarctica and South Georgia honors a long list of polar explorers and adventurers.
The 18-day voyage will sail from Ushuaia, Argentina, to the Antarctic Peninsula, on board the 54-passenger Polar Pioneer. Daily shore landings offer the opportunity to walk along the rugged coastline teeming with wildlife and through the remote landscape. In South Georgia, expect to see colonies of 500,000 king penguins, fur seals and the albatross, one of the largest seabirds on the planet.
Guests on board the '25 Year Anniversary' expedition will receive exclusive added extras, including an anniversary dinner, a commemorative book and a polar jacket with a limited-edition anniversary polar explorer's badge.
The voyage will be led by one of Aurora's original expedition leaders, Dr. Gary Miller, who has been traveling to Antarctica for more than 30 years. Gary's team will include a naturalist, a historian and polar specialists.
The 25 Year Anniversary expedition to Antarctica and South Georgia departs Ushuaia, Argentina on Dec. 27, 2017, and returns to Santiago, Chile on Jan. 13, 2018.
To celebrate this anniversary, Aurora Expeditions offers saving of up to $3,000 per couple for some voyages during their 25th anniversary season, including the 25 Year Anniversary expedition. To take advantage of this anniversary offer, reservations must be made before Sep. 30, 2017.

3 Airports Unveil Hands-Only CPR Kiosks
|The American Heart Association debuts Hands-Only CPR training kiosks at select airports in the United States. Cleveland Hopkins International, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International and Orlando International airports feature training kiosks where the public can learn Hands-Only CPR in about five minutes while they wait for their flights. This brings the total number of airport kiosks, supported by Anthem Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Anthem Inc., to seven in the United States.
Each year, more than 350,000 cardiac arrests occur outside the hospital, and about 20 percent occur in public places such as airports. Hands-Only CPR has shown to be as effective as conventional CPR for cardiac arrest when it occurs in public. CPR can double or triple a person's chance of survival. The interactive kiosks are designed to train large numbers of people on this simple, lifesaving technique.
Hands-Only CPR has two steps, performed in this order: when you see a teen or adult suddenly collapse, call 911. Then, push hard and fast in the center of the chest until help arrives. Each kiosk has a touch screen with a short video that provides an overview of Hands-Only CPR, followed by a practice session and a 30-second test. With the help of a practice manikin, or a rubber torso, the kiosk gives feedback about the depth and rate of compressions, and proper hand placement – factors that influence the effectiveness of CPR. The kiosks have closed captioning to make the training available to everyone.
The kiosks will be located in the following spots:
- Behind Central Checkpoint across from the Interfaith Center at Cleveland Hopkins International
- Concourse A, Gates A6-A22 at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International
- Entrance to the Main Food Court at Orlando International.

Wright's SC Johnson Administration Building
|SC Johnson, the maker of Glade, Raid, Scrubbing Bubbles and Ziploc, is home to two buildings designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright. On the campus of SC Johnson's world headquarters in Racine, WI, the Administration Building and the Research Tower are both on the National Register of Historic Places and open to the public for free tours.
Celebrated as one of the top 25 buildings of the 20th century, the SC Johnson Administration Building features several never-before-seen architectural innovations by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Administration Building was opened in 1939, followed by the Research Tower, which opened in 1950.
The building features more than one-half acre of open workspace in the Great Workroom and circular "bird cage" elevators that run from the basement to the Penthouse level giving a panoramic view of the building.
The original cost of the Administration Building was $1.2 million. However, Wright originally told Johnson he could design the Administration Building for $200,000.
The SC Johnson Administration Building is the only Wright-designed commercial building still in daily use. From its 43 miles of Pyrex glass tubing to the dendriform columns in the Great Workroom, it is a unique work of art.
The focal point of this building is the dendriform columns, meaning tree-shaped. Because of their unique design, they are also called mushrooms, golf tees or lily pads. These columns were revolutionary because the base has a diameter of nine inches, compared to the top's diameter of 18½ feet. Wright designed each column to support a weight of 12 tons according to The Wisconsin Industrial Commission's requirements. During the test of a column, it actually held five times that before showing signs of cracking.
Wright designed more than 40 different pieces of furniture for the Administration Building, each created to reflect aspects of the building's overall design.
At the SC Johnson campus, visitors can experience a history of exploration and innovation in architecture that has drawn increasing global interest. In 2016, the Frank Lloyd Wright Trail was established, connecting many of Wright's architectural sites across Wisconsin to make it easier to experience and enjoy Wright's legacy in his home state. The Trail includes five stops between Racine and Spring Green, WI.
SC Johnson welcomes visitors to experience their Frank Lloyd Wright-designed buildings Thursday through Sunday. While the tours are free, reservations are required.
