    Dallas Joins CityPass

Dallas, Texas, will soon join more than half a dozen other tourism destinations as an official CityPASS city. City Pass packages discounted, prepaid admission to a city or region's top attractions. This is the second CityPASS program in Texas, following Houston, which debuted in 2008.

Each Dallas CityPASS booklet will save you 41 percent off combined admission to the Perot Museum of Nature and Science, Reunion Tower GeO-Deck, a choice between the Dallas Zoo and the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza, and a choice between the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum and the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden. CityPASS booklets save time, allowing you to skip most main-entrance ticket lines.

Each Dallas CityPASS booklet contains two option tickets. On the first, you choose between the Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza or the Dallas Zoo.

The second option ticket allows you to choose between the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and the 66-acre Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Garden.

Dallas CityPASS booklets retail for $44 for adults, $30 for children, ages three to 12. Passes can be purchased online or at any of the CityPASS partner attractions. Passes are valid for nine consecutive days, beginning with the first day of use. Visitors who use all of the booklet's tickets will save $30.30 on combined admission to the included attractions.

Tel Aviv Goes Digital for Tourists

Tel Aviv's free Wi-Fi system, launched by the municipality a year and a half ago, includes 180 free hot spots covering 3.7 million square meters and encompassing the entire city. The city's beaches, boulevards, coffee shops, bars, parks, and startup hubs are all covered by the free Wi-Fi zones.

According to the latest data from 2014, more than 50 percent of WiFi users were tourists visiting Tel Aviv, with 85 percent using smart phones. 298,272 unique users entered the network in 2014 with a total of 579,917 entrances overall.

Only 36 percent were made in Hebrew with English being the most popular language at 41 percent, Russian four percent and French 2.5 percent. The most popular areas for Wi-Fi users were in the center of the City, its markets and beaches.

Hila Oren, CEO of Tel Aviv Global said "Today, access to free Wi-Fi is a basic service – just like it’s a City's job to connect people to water and electricity –it is also our job to connect people to the web- free Wi-Fi is a new aspect of city-making. It's only fitting that Tel Aviv, with its more than 1,000 startups – the largest concentration of innovation per capita on the globe – leads the world in this field as well."

In a recent ranking by Savills, Tel Aviv was ranked as one of the world's top three tech cities, alongside San Francisco and Austin.

    Lyme Disease Awareness

Summer is a good time to share information about staying protected from ticks in the coming months.

Lyme disease is one of the fastest growing epidemics to date. The CDC estimates the number of cases in the US to be about 300,000 cases a year.

Here are a few good things to know in order to stay protected.

Top 10 Facts You Need To Know About Ticks
    • 10. Ticks crawl up ticks don't jump, fly, or drop from trees onto your head and back. If you find one attached there, it most likely latched onto your foot or leg and crawled up over your entire body.

    • 9. All ticks (including deer ticks) come in small, medium and large sizes

    • 8. Ticks can be active even in the winter. Deer Ticks are not killed by freezing temperatures and will be active any winter day that the ground is not snow-covered or frozen.

    • 7. Ticks carry disease-causing microbes. Tick-transmitted infections are more common these days than in past decades. With increases in deer populations, extending into semi-urban areas in the eastern and western U.S., the trend is for increasing abundance and geographic spread of deer ticks and Lone Star ticks. Scientists are finding an ever-increasing list of disease-causing microbes transmitted by these ticks: Lyme disease bacteria, Babesia protozoa, Anaplasma, Ehrlichia, and other rickettsia, even encephalitis-causing viruses, and possibly Bartonella bacteria. Back in the day, tick bites were more of an annoyance but now a bite is much more likely to make you sick.

    • 6. Only deer ticks transmit Lyme disease bacteria. The only way to get Lyme disease is by being bitten by a deer tick or one of its "cousins" found around the world.

    • 5. For most tick-borne diseases, you have at least 24 hours to find and remove a feeding tick before it transmits an infection. A quick daily tick check at bath or shower time can be helpful in finding and removing attached ticks before they can transmit an infection. Lyme disease bacteria take at least 24 hours to invade the tick's saliva.

    • 4. Deer tick nymphs look like a poppy seed on your skin. One out of four nymphal deer ticks carry the Lyme disease spirochete and other nasty germs in the northeastern, mid-Atlantic, and upper mid-western U.S. It's important to know what you're looking for. They're easy to miss, their bites are generally painless, and they have a habit of climbing up (under clothing) and biting in hard-to-see places.

    • 3. The easiest and safest way to remove a tick is with a pointy tweezer Using really pointy tweezers, it's possible to grab even the poppy-seed sized nymphs right down next to the skin. The next step is to simply pull the tick out like a splinter.

    • 2. An easy way to avoid tick bites and disease is to wear clothing (shoes, socks, shorts or pants, and shirt) with tick repellent built-in.

    • 1. Tick bites and tick-borne diseases are completely preventable. There is really only one way you get a tick-transmitted disease and that's from a tick bite. Reducing ticks in your yard, wearing tick repellent clothing, treating pets every month and doing a quick body scan are all great actions for preventing tick bites.
